In the Sinai desert in Israel there is a remarkable tower of light. It is a solar power station, but not a conventional one. Surrounding the tower are hundreds of huge mirrors. These together track and reflect the sun onto the top of the tower, so that the energy can be gathered and transformed into a power source useful to people. The power is also stored for transmission at night or when the sun is not shining.
This solar power system is a picture of the unified end-time Church ‘pointed at the sun’ (directed by the Holy Spirit) and ‘reflecting its rays’ (through prayer) to a single point, the top of the tower (representing Israel). The tower is both a power source and a beacon visible from far away. The surrounding desert reminds us of the more difficult days to come. The stored power reminds us that God’s grace will be available to us even during those dark and difficult days.
