At the time of Elijah and Elisha there were three or more schools of the prophets in Israel. These schools trained and equipped dedicated people for ministry. They learned and served together in groups of at least 50, with the help of faithful, gifted and experienced leaders.
Training of the prophets took place at a time of great difficulty for Israel. The nation was in rebellion against God and was following evil gods and idols. King Ahab and Queen Jezebel ruled and were attempting to kill all of God’s prophets. However, God had reserved 7,000 for himself who had ‘not bowed their need to Baal’ (1 Kings 19:18). It is likely the students in Elijah and Elisha’s Bible schools where a part of this 7,000, those set apart for and dedicated to the God of Israel.
It is our vision to train and equip such people of God to walk with Him and operate in his grace, wisdom, love, power and anointing.
